Students May Begin Wearing Shorts on Tuesday, April 21st!

We know how excited the students get for the first warm days of the season. A reminder that, per our Student Handbook, the start date for wearing shorts is April 21st!

Please take some time to review the expectations in the Student Handbook, and reach out to Kalynn with any questions!

Spring Means Bugs and Sun - Please Take Note!

It's Spring, and that will mean longer and stronger sun exposure, which I know we are all anxiously awaiting. Sending in a brimmed hat and sunscreen are two easy ways to help your child avoid an uncomfortable sunburn from recess or outdoor learning times. We are happy to remind students to reapply sunscreen before recess, just send in a labeled bottle that your child can apply with limited adult support (spray versions are great!) and we will add it to our pre-recess process.

Unfortunately, Spring also means the return of the ticks and other insects. One of the insects we see are seeing quite a bit of right now is ticks; several students and teachers have found and removed ticks from their hair and bodies in the past week.

The school does take preventative measures by spraying the grounds, cutting the grass a bit shorter, and setting aside time before recess to have students spray repellent. Please feel free to send in any repellent you would like your child to use and we will remind them to apply it before going outside. Be sure the repellent is labeled with your child's name and is accompanied by a note of permission for them to use it at school.

Additionally, please take the time to check your child for ticks every night as an extra precaution. Here is a helpful link to the CDC website regarding ticks and what to do if you find one on your child.

Dreaming of warm weather and sunny recesses,

Kalynn
