Making Mistakes
At Clark School we understand that personal growth comes from making and acknowledging mistakes. Students are expected to accept responsibility for their errors and to work toward solutions. We emphasize personal awareness and personal responsibility as members of a global community. All students and staff are on a first-name basis to build a nurturing environment and to foster trust. Teachers compete monthly for a Rubber Chicken Award that acknowledges errors in the classroom (misspelling a spelling word, for example, or handing out the answer sheet instead of the quiz). The Rubber Chicken winner has the honor of displaying Bob, our very own rubber chicken, in his or her classroom for a month.
